What is a simple adoption deed?

An adoption deed is a legal document in which all rights and responsibilities of the biological parent or parents are transferred to the adopted parents. It includes building up a relationship between parent and child to be adopted. Under the adoption deed law, adoptive families carry the rights, duties and privileges of a child to whom they are naturally concerned. 

It is essential to declare that the adoption of a child is taking place. Child adoption can be over and done with an adoption deed registration subject to conformity with the provisions of the Hindu adoption and maintenance act.

What should an adoption deed format cover?

There is a specific format for each legal document and an adoption deed is not an exception. It has a specific format which covers:

• Personal details of the adoptive parents as well as natural parents.
• Child's gender who is being adopted
• The age of the child is also mentioned in the adoption deed format
• The will of adoptive parents in state and clear words
• A positive consent of the natural parents of a child that states their wish to hand over their child to adoptive parents
• Legal transfer facts of an adopted child including rights and liabilities to the parents or a single parent who is adopting a child
• As per the adoption deed format in India, there must be a clear statement of adopted parents enclosing the duty of maintenance of the adopted child
• It must include the date of adoption and accepted signatures of both natural and adoptive parents.
• With this deed format birth certificate and a medical test, the record should be attached before the adoption deed registration.
